Derek Robinson was born and raised in Colorado and started playing hockey at 6 years old.  He played junior hockey in Camrose, Alberta, Canada and Kalamazoo, MI and won Rookie of the Year honors while with Camrose.  Derek continued his hockey career playing for three years at the Augustana University College and one year with Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where the team won the 1996 CCAA National Hockey Championship.   Derek played in Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria and was honored, along with teammates, by the Mayor of Saltzgitter, Germany with the Key to the City.

Robinson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Physical Education while attending the Augustana University College and also studied Business Administration specializing in Marketing and Finance while attending the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Most recently, Robinson serves as the Director of Operations for Total Hockey Academy in Westminster, Colorado.  This athlete development system trains players in hockey skill development from beginners to collegiate players.   He has trained, coached and developed players recently who have gone on to play in such leagues as BCHL, AJHL, MJHL, NAHL, USHL, Division I and III college hockey.
